Wildlife Watching
Some of Scotland’s most diverse wildlife can be seen from our coasts between May and September. Boat trips around the Isle of Mull are spectacular offering opportunities to spot Basking Sharks, Dolphins, Minke and even Killer Whales alongside all kinds of bird life such as puffins, gannets and guillemots.
Walk the West Highland Way
Scotland has a variety of official long distance footpaths and the most iconic is the West Highland Way; 154 km of stunning scenery from the Lowlands to the Highlands of Scotland passing through Loch Lomond National Park and historical sites like Glencoe. Best of all, you can either walk the full route or a section at your own leisure.
Biking at 7 Stanes
The 7stanes are seven mountain biking centres spanning the south of Scotland, from the heart of the Scottish Borders to Dumfries and Galloway; 'Stane' is the Scots word for stone, and at each of the 7stanes locations, you'll find a stone sculpture reflecting a local myth or legend. Each of the mountain biking trails is graded with the level of difficulty and signposted to help both novice and advanced mountain bikers.
Hillwalk Scotland's Munros
Scotland has its own classification for mountains - the highest are known as Munros: mountains that are over 3,000 feet (914m) in height. Many Scots enjoy these spectacular and challenging walks in their own leisure time and visitors to Scotland can do so too. Ben Lomond is one of the most familiar and popular of the Munros, with dramatic views from its summit over the beautiful Loch Lomond.
