Scotland's History

History of Scotland

Mysterious stone circles are scattered across the archipelagos of Scotland’s islands, marking the start of Scotland’s known history and thought to date back 5,000 years. From that point in Neolithic Scotland, to the establishment of the first Scottish Parliament since the Act of Union in 1707, Scotland has had a rich and colorful history.

Scotland's history spans centuries with tales of fallen monarchs, uprisings, glorious victories and bloody defeats. Iconic Scottish figures such as Bonnie Prince Charlie, Mary Queen of Scots and William Wallace are often brought back to life as inspiring characters in modern day adaptations of heroic histories.

The fabulous Georgian architecture of Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city, was constructed during the Age of Enlightenment and brings a refined elegance to the city. Wandering around whilst admiring the architecture is simply a joy to behold.

With all that Scottish history flowing through their veins, it isn’t surprising that the Scots are proud of their heritage.
